Hi!!!!

Every hour of every day, someone dies of melanoma in the United States. Melanoma strikes people of all ages, all races, all economic levels and both sexes. It is the most common form of cancer for young adults (25-29 years old). It is estimated that there will be 70,230 invasive melanomas diagnosed in the United States in 2011, and there will be 8,790 deaths.

We are a group of friends that organize the KDB Melanoma Walk & Run in memory of Katherine Denise Bowers, a beloved friend who lost her battle to melanoma in 2006. All money donated through our organization benefits the research programs of the Melanoma Research Foundation (www.melanoma.org) and AIM for Melanoma (www.aimatmelanoma.org). This event will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Kensington Metro Park in Milford, Michigan.

We have raised approximately $95,000 in the last five years. All of the proceeds have gone to co-sponsor research grants at universities across the county. With these research grants, researchers will continue to make progress toward a cure for melanoma.
